What is the Mineral Springs system?

Your BioGuard Mineral Springs System

The BioGuard Mineral Springs System is probably the easiest and most advanced way to treat your swimming pool water. It is important that you understand how your system works and how chlorine is generated in your pool water.

The Controller & Cell:  The controller is the white electrical box that is mounted somewhere near the rest of your pool equipment. The cell is located in your filter system plumbing, it has a white cord and grey phone cord. The controller is where you can find the dial to adjust the percentage of time your Mineral Springs unit will produce chlorine as well as indicator lights and a small digital information screen. The cell contains plates that split sodium chloride into chlorine and hydrogen gas. You might see bubbles coming out of the return when this reaction is taking place. It is not an air leak, just hydrogen gas. All chlorination takes place in the cell itself, none is added by you for weekly maintenance.

The Beginnings: Beginnings were added to your pool either when it was built or converted to establish the proper level of minerals. With the addition of fresh water (rain, splash-out, winterization) the level of minerals is diluted and it may be necessary to add Beginnings at Spring opening and possibly during the season.

The Renewal: A weekly application of Renewal helps to replenish the mineral levels in the pool. Renewal contains: pH balancers to offset alkalinity, scale inhibitors to help prolong the life span of your cell, and clarifiers to maintain crystal clear water.
